Received my second vegetable share and this one came with beans too (separately ordered). I got organic black beans and pinto beans, one pound of each. Black beans are cooking on the stove as I am typing this. I added: Jalapeno (from my summer garden), green pepper, celery, carrots, onion, garlic, can of organic roma tomatoes and two containers of organic chicken stock. It should simmer for about 4-6 hours. Yum!
I have also recently made: Farfalle with peas in a pink sauce and salad when Joe and Denise came for dinner and ham, macaroni and cheese and salad when Jill, Lenny and Brett were here for dinner.
I made split pea soup and used the ham bone. I also pureed it in the pot with my new hand blender Michael gave me for Christmas. Worked really well. I also made a pot of straciatella soup. Seems soup-like weather lately.
I will be in Ithaca soon for a few days. Keep warm!

Too Busy
This week we will be too busy for words, mentally and physically.
We are taking Jesse up to school on Sunday so during this week we will be getting ready for the trip (pun intended...).
Last week we went to Dani's. Great as usual. Eggplant casserole, straciatella soup, chicken...
Today I was making meatballs and sauce, but the meatballs kept sticking to the pan, so i stirred them up and Voila, bolognese sauce instead :)
Thursday we are going to Sato with the Wisners as a send-off dinner for Jesse. It was Lenny's idea and we appreciate the sentiment a lot!
Friday we are having dinner at Joe and Denise's with Joe and Penny. It will be great, because it couldn't be anything else!!
Saturday is packing and stressing and feeling every feeling under the sun.
Sunday is the drive up, Monday is moving in day.
Oh boy...here we go.

Three Nights
I also made Stracciatella soup (which is a favorite ours): Fresh spinach, chicken stock, romano cheese and eggs. Yum Yum.
Last night, dinner was Veal Bolognese (which has nothing to do with any kind of meat sauce, as most of us Americans would think). It is: breaded, sauteed veal cutlets, topped with prosciutto and shaved parm-regg, a bit of broth in the pan and covered until the cheese melts. No, I didn't eat any of it, but Michael liked it. Jesse ate his for lunch today on a roll. (Cauliflower with garlic, oil and Steve's hot pepper on the side).
Tomorrow night is chicken sausage with broccoli rabe and risotto on the side.
xo and no cooking on Friday and Saturday!
