Since November, Where the Fuck have I Been?

Holy Shit!  I knew I hadn't posted in a while, but I am sorry I didn't realize it had been this long.

I know I have many photos to post too.  Just have to figure out how to get them here :)

I also opened an Instagram account, which I can link here too.  (As soon as I figure that out...)

Otherwise, been babysitting Clayton for a few days while Jesse is in Florida visiting his grandpa.  Cooking for Michael (Meatloaf, chicken soup with matzoh balls, farfalle with pink sauce and peas).

We've been out a bunch too:  5 Burro, Station House and Flying Pig (and that was in one night LOL) with Jill, Lenny, Steve and Sue.  Also went to Katz' Deli with Michael (still so good).

New Year's Eve we went with our usual crew (Joe and Denise and Tom and Monica) to Il Triangolo in Corona.  My review is on Yelp and I am not going to reprint it here as it took me 3 tries to get it right on Yelp.  But needless to say, I'm not going there again.

Sato on Queens Boulevard used to be our favorite Japanese place, but after our recent experience, we're not going back there too soon either.  Really lousy service.

I will try to get the photos, etc...up soon.

xo and thanks, if you are still reading this!

Since Jan. 24

Obviously home from Ithaca, actually been there and back again. Anyway...

Michael's mom had surgery (and she is doing really well, home from Beth Israel in one day).

We've been to El Quijote, Dani's, Bonfire, Artichoke Basile's, 5 Burro, Dirty Pierre's, Exo Cafe and Canterbury Ales.

I've made chili, pork roast, mushroom soup, chicken soup, and assorted minor dinners.

Tomorrow we are going for our annual Valentine's Day dinner (but never on Valentine's Day) to Bistro Sk on City Island.  Friday night is pizza night at the Creutz' and we have no plans for the weekend.  I think we need a rest.

xo

PS: Sorry for the minimal details. Maybe I will get a second wind...

Dee's

After our haircuts on Wednesday night Michael and I went to Dee's on Metropolitan Avenue.  We went to 5 Burro on Austin Street first, but I have to say it's the first time I've been treated rudely there. Marla needs to have a customer service meeting with her hostess.

Anyway, we left there and went directly to Dee's because even though it's always busy, we can always get a table with no wait.  We've even had a table and chairs brought out from a back room and set up for us when there were no tables available!  How's that for customer service?!

We shared:  Fall Mediterranean White Bean, & Vegetable Stew with Shrimp and Chorizo Sausage as an appetizer and then I had Rigatoni & Grilled Eggplant Rigatoni - Grilled Eggplant - DEE'S Marinara - Ricotta Cheese and Michael had a Rosemary Turkey Burger - Dee's Chipotle Sauce - Carmelized onions - Grilled Zucchini.  A glass of Chianti and a Meyer's rum and Diet Coke and we were very happy, and tired.  We went home and I fell asleep around 9pm...

Three Days

Happy Spring!

We have had great meals for the past three days:  Friday night we went to 5 Burro with the Wisners and the Boyles.  Several pitchers of margaritas and a few beers along with queso fundido, guacamole, avocados stuffed with shrimp, chicken tacos, chicken chipotle and lobster burritos.  Afterwards, we walked to Agora Taverna (http://agorataverna.com/index.php) the new Greek place on Austin Street, for dessert:  Milopita-Granny Smith apples, raisins & spices, wrapped in phyllo dough served with cinnamon ice cream; Galactobureko-Milk farina custard wrapped in phyllo with cinnamon and powdered sugar; Yaourti-Authentic Greek yogurt with thyme honey, sour cherries and walnuts; Chocolatina-Warm chocolate souffle served with roasted figs and vanilla ice cream along with Greek and American coffees.

Saturday we were at Leslie's for her son Louis' 19th birthday.  Friends are always great and so is the food:  Warm artichoke cheese spread; crudite; cheese; olives; shrimp cocktail followed by cavatelli with gravy and Caesar salad and garlic bread.  Birthday cake and tons of goodies for dessert. Add wine and cocktails and stir till ready!

Sunday we had our annual Easter day with the Creutz family! Wonderful friends, happy kids, great food, beautiful sunshine!  We started with cheese, hummus and pita, grape leaves and tzatziki, marinated shrimp, wine, scotch, Manhattan's and bourbon (for the experienced crowd).  Dinner was amazing grilled, marinated, butterflied lamb (yes I nibbled a well done bit), wild and plain rice, asparagus, salad, more wine. Around the table we played a game similar to telephone, but you don't say what the person next to you whispers in your ear, you say the first thing that pops into your head (more like word association) and it goes around the table back to the person who started it. So, Louis starts by whispering "pussy" into B3's ear, and you can imagine what went on next. LOL. Boys will be boys...Dessert was apple strudel, Easter cupcakes, chocolate cake, cookies, coffee and cordials.  We gave the kids their Easter bags and one of Eileen's items was the big hit:  small Nerf guns.  It was all out war for a few hours after that.  A few games of Can-Jam on the lawn and our day was perfect!

Hope yours was too!
